FOREST-BASED BIO-ECONOMY

As a novel and environmentally conscious economic activity, the bio-economy is revamping the forest industry across the globe. In a forest-based context, bio-economy involves using forest resources to create sustainable and environmentally friendly products and services. The forest industry in the province hopes to create an innovative sector in ways that increase skilled jobs and build relationships with a broad range of residents, firms, and businesses. Newfoundland and Labrador's managed forests offer great potential to develop a dynamic and sustainable bio-eceonomy in the province. This research project will engage with regions across the province to assess regional bio-economy potential and identify region-specific opportunities and projects.
